Pay: £92.63 per day

Axcis Education is proud to partner with an Ofsted‑rated Outstanding primary school in Smethwick to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant who will support pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). The role is ideal for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), or support worker wishing to help children develop confidence, communication skills and independence.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting pupils with speech, language, and communication difficulties
  • Using communication tools such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and Makaton
  • Delivering targeted interventions to develop language and social communication skills
  • Encouraging positive interactions and peer relationships
  • Providing individual and small‑group support within the classroom
  • Building trusting, meaningful relationships with pupils
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to support learning outcomes
  • Promoting confidence, independence, and emotional well‑being

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND, particularly speech and language needs or communication difficulties
  • Knowledge of communication approaches such as PECS, Makaton, or similar strategies
  • A nurturing, empathetic, and child‑centred approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
  • An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Availability for full‑time work, Monday to Friday
