We are seeking a committed and compassionate Primary SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND unit within a welcoming mainstream primary school in Slough. The role involves working closely with pupils who have a range of special educational needs and disabilities, providing tailored support on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping children access learning, develop confidence and make meaningful progress, and creating a positive and inclusive environment where pupils feel supported, valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with SEND on an individual and group basis.
  • Assist pupils with emotional regulation, engagement in learning and social development.
  • Maintain a consistent and reassuring presence throughout the school day.
  • Provide personal care when required and remain physically active, spending most of the day on your feet.
  • Use strong observational skills to respond proactively to each child's needs.
  • Support behaviour management and adapt to changing situations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year's experience working with children with SEND.
  • Confident supporting a variety of individual needs.
  • Calm, patient and nurturing approach.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Good observational skills and a proactive mindset.

This is a full-time, term-time position and is temporary unless otherwise stated.
