About the Role
- You will work alongside experienced teachers, therapists and specialist support staff to help pupils access a highly personalised curriculum designed around their individual needs and strengths.
- The pupils you support may have Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), sensory impairments, physical disabilities, communication needs and complex medical needs.
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and within small groups.
- Assist with communication strategies such as Makaton and PECS.
- Support sensory-based learning.
- Help pupils develop independence and life skills.
- Encourage positive behaviour through a proactive and relational approach.
- Assist with personal care where required.
- Contribute to a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment.
- Work alongside speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and other specialist professionals as part of a multidisciplinary approach to SEND education.

What We're Looking For
We’re keen to hear from candidates who are patient, empathetic, adaptable and genuinely passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND. Previous experience supporting individuals with SEND, SEMH, autism, learning disabilities or complex needs is highly desirable, whether gained through education, care, support work, youth work, voluntary settings or personal experience. Experience with PMLD, SLD, ASC or physical disabilities would be particularly valuable. Team Teach training would be advantageous, although not essential. A relevant qualification in Education, Psychology, Health and Social Care, Child Development or a related field would be welcomed, but attitude, commitment and willingness to learn are equally important. An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, is essential.
