Position: PMLD Teacher; Location: Shepperton, Surrey; Hours: Full‑time, Monday–Friday, 08:00–15:30 (inclusive of a 30‑minute lunch break).
Salary: Paid to scale (National Minimum/Recommended Pay Scale for specialist teachers).
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated PMLD Teacher to join our specialist team in Shepperton.
The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality, person‑centred education and support to children with profound and multiple learning disabilities, fostering their development, wellbeing, and participation in the wider school community.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver tailored curricula that meet individual education plans (IEPs).
- Implement therapeutic and learning strategies (e. g., sensory, communication, mobility) in collaboration with multidisciplinary staff.
- Monitor, assess and record progress, producing detailed reports for parents and external agencies.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes independence and dignity.
- Work closely with support staff, therapists, and families to ensure seamless continuity of care.
- Contribute to staff development by sharing best practices and participating in training sessions.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in SEND or a relevant equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years experience teaching or supporting pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, safeguarding, and health & safety regulations.
- Excellent communication, organisational and collaborative skills.
Desirable
- Post‑graduate qualification in SEND or a related field.
- Training in Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) or sensory integration.
