Full-Time SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Exeter Hours: Monday to Friday, term-time only Pay: £89–£195 per day Role type: Full-time, long-term (with potential for permanent) Are you someone who just gets young people – especially those who think and learn a little differently? The SEND school is a brilliant specialist secondary school in Exeter for students with a range of additional needs, including: Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) Autism Speech, language, and communication needs Social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges This is a small and friendly school where relationships matter. Staff work hard to create a calm, consistent and caring environment and they’re really good at helping young people succeed. As a Teaching Assistant you\’ll: Support students in class with their learning, communication and social skills Offer 1:1 support where needed both academically and emotionally Help create a calm and structured classroom environment Encourage independence, life skills, and confidence-building Join in with activities like cooking, outdoor learning, PE, and creative projects Be a kind, steady presence, someone students can trust and rely on You don’t need to be an expert but if you have experience supporting children or young people with SEND (in school, care, youth work, or similar), that’s a huge bonus. What really matters is that you are: Patient, calm and caring A great communicator who builds rapport easily Up for a challenge and not easily fazed A team player who wants to learn and grow Comfortable supporting children with autism, learning needs or behaviour challenges INDDEV
