Experienced SEND Teaching Assistant – Full Time Location: Plymouth Start Date: ASAP or September 2025 Are you a passionate and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant seeking a rewarding full-time role in Plymouth? We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate professional to join a nurturing and inclusive school environment, supporting pupils with a range of complex needs. This is a full-time opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The role is to commence as soon as possible, though a September 2025 start will also be considered for the right candidate. About the Role: As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the wider support team to provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with complex communication and interaction needs. Many of the children you will support have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), physical disabilities, and/or complex medical conditions. Your role will be central to helping them access the curriculum and engage meaningfully in school life. You will be based in a warm and welcoming setting that values inclusion, individuality, and the holistic development of every child. Working in collaboration with teaching staff, therapists, and families, you will help create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment. The Ideal Candidate: We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant with: Proven experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly those with ASC and/or complex physical or medical needs A strong understanding of inclusive education and differentiated learning strategies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills A calm, patient, and empathetic approach The ability to work effectively within a team, as well as independently Training in areas such as manual handling, Team Teach, PECS, or Makaton would be highly desirable, though not essential.
