We are currently seeking a committed and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive mainstream primary school in Smethwick this coming September 2025. This full-time role involves working 1:1 and in small groups with pupils who have Special Educational Needs (SEN), supporting their learning and personal development throughout the school day.
About the Role: You’ll work alongside class teachers and SEN staff to help children overcome barriers to learning, supporting both academic progress and emotional well-being. A proactive, energetic, and nurturing approach is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of SEN needs
- Assist in implementing and monitoring individual education plans (IEPs)
- Support children's learning, behaviour, and social development
- Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and the SENCO
Requirements:
- Experience working in a nursery or school setting – Essential
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN – Essential
- A patient, positive, and enthusiastic attitude
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A current DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
