Location: Smethwick

Pay: From £13.86 per hour (dependent on experience)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (Full time)

Start Date: September 2025

Contract: Full-time, until at least the end of the academic year

We are currently seeking a committed and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive mainstream primary school in Smethwick this coming September 2025. This full-time role involves working 1:1 and in small groups with pupils who have Special Educational Needs (SEN), supporting their learning and personal development throughout the school day.

About the Role: You’ll work alongside class teachers and SEN staff to help children overcome barriers to learning, supporting both academic progress and emotional well-being. A proactive, energetic, and nurturing approach is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of SEN needs
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Support children's learning, behaviour, and social development
  • Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and the SENCO

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a nursery or school setting – Essential
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN – Essential
  • A patient, positive, and enthusiastic attitude
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A current DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
