Sutton, South London. From: Tuesday 1st September, 8:30am – 4:00pm (Term Time Only). Full‑Time Teaching Assistant. Rate: £92.63 per day.

Are you a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant who thrives on building positive relationships with young people? We are looking for a dedicated individual to provide 1:1 support for a Year 7 pupil with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and complex learning needs within a welcoming all-through special school. This is a highly rewarding role where you'll play a key part in helping a young person build confidence and achieve success. Responsibilities

  • Providing consistent 1:1 support for a Year 7 pupil with SEMH and complex needs.
  • Building a trusting and positive relationship with the student.
  • Supporting emotional regulation, engagement and participation throughout the school day.
  • Encouraging independence, social development and positive behaviour.
  • Responding calmly and effectively to challenging situations when they arise.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, complex needs or other SEND needs.
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their goals.
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant or SEND qualifications are desirable but not essential.
