Overview

A well-regarded all-boys secondary school in Hounslow is seeking a professional and highly organised Receptionist to join its front office team. This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, and offers the chance to become a key part of the school community. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for parents, visitors, staff, and students, and will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of daily operations. The role requires excellent communication skills, a welcoming manner, and the ability to remain calm and efficient in a busy school environment. Applicants must hold an enhanced DBS certificate (or be willing to apply for one) and have previous experience working as a receptionist, ideally within a school or educational setting. Strong IT skills, including confidence with Microsoft Office packages and management information systems, are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as the first point of contact for visitors, staff, parents, and students
  • Managing phone calls, emails, and general enquiries in a professional and timely manner
  • Maintaining visitor logs and safeguarding procedures at all times
  • Assisting with administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the school
  • Liaising with teaching and support staff to ensure efficient communication across departments

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a receptionist or front-of-house professional (school experience highly desirable)
  • Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and database systems
  • Professional, approachable, and able to manage a busy workload with efficiency
