SEN Support Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Secondary School

Location: Runcorn

Start Date: Late February / Early March 2026

Contract Type: Full-Time or Part-Time

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm

A welcoming and inclusive mainstream high school in Runcorn is seeking a dedicated SEN Support Teaching Assistant to join their team from late February / early March. This role focuses on supporting pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and thrive both academically and socially. The school supports students with a range of needs including Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia, and speech, language and communication needs, within a structured and supportive mainstream environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN across a range of subjects
  • Support students to access the curriculum, adapt learning materials, and stay engaged in lessons
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social skills within the classroom
  • Work closely with subject teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral teams to implement support strategies and EHCP targets
  • Build strong, trusting relationships that help pupils feel confident, included, and supported
  • Encourage independence and self-belief while maintaining clear, consistent boundaries
