Role: Psychology Graduate – Mental Health Support Worker Location: North Somerset Hours: 8.30 – 3.30pm, Mon – Fri (term time only) Pay: £89 per day Contract: Temporary with the potential of permanent for the right candidate Are you a psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in a school environment whilst positively impacting the lives of vulnerable young people? If you’re passionate about Special Educational Needs (SEN) and improving the social, emotional, and mental health of young people, then this opportunity is perfect for you! About the schools: Our partner schools in North Somerset provide a nurturing, individualised, and alternative environment for young people with SEN to thrive. With a strong focus on trauma-informed practice and sensory-based learning, the schools are equipped with fantastic facilities including sensory rooms, practical workshop spaces and gardens that allow for a strong focus on outdoor learning. Your role as a Mental Health Support Worker No two days are the same in this varied and rewarding role, but you can expect to support with the following: – Pupil engagement with the curriculum. – Communication, using methods such as Makaton or PECS. – Encouraging outdoor learning. – Promoting social skills both in groups and one-to-one sessions. – Running small group interventions, offering personalised support for academic, emotional and social development. Who are we looking for? We are looking for individuals who: – Hold a Psychology degree (or related field) – Have at least 3 months’ experience working with young people or adults with SEND. – Are enthusiastic, patient and empathetic. – Ideally have a DBS on the Update Service. Even if you don’t meet all of the criteria, we’d still love to hear from you as we welcome Mental Health Support Workers from a range of backgrounds. Why work with Axcis?
