Axcis Education, a leading SEND agency, is hiring a full-time Mental Health Support worker to join a dedicated team at a renowned SEND school in the Wirral. This role supports pupils with challenging behaviour across a range of SEND needs, including social, emotional, mental health difficulties, autism, ADHD and learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote positive behaviour and provide consistent, supportive guidance.
  • Manage incidents of challenging behaviour safely and professionally, following school safeguarding and behaviour policies.
  • Support learning and engagement, adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
  • Record and report observations, incidents, and progress accurately and confidentially.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals to ensure consistent support for pupils.
  • Encourage emotional regulation and resilience, modelling calm, respectful, and empathetic communication.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where all pupils feel valued and supported.

Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 6 months personal or professional experience supporting adults or children with special educational needs.
  • Or a certified qualification in a relevant area – education, psychology, drama, etc.
  • A graduate teaching assistant with a patient, compassionate and positive attitude.
  • Flexibility to work school hours – contracts are usually 8:30 am until 3‑4:30 pm.
  • Ability to reliably commute to settings either by driving or public transport.
