Are you a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs? Axcis Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive junior school in Upton to recruit an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a rewarding full-time opportunity to support pupils with additional needs and help them thrive both academically and socially.

This role would suit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant or Support Worker who enjoys building positive relationships with children and helping them develop confidence, independence and a love of learning.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide dedicated support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Support children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH and other additional learning needs
  • Work closely with class teachers to adapt learning and deliver personalised support
  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation and social interaction
  • Build trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, valued and confident
  • Support pupils both in the classroom and during wider school activities
  • Promote independence while encouraging engagement with learning
  • Record progress and celebrate each child's achievements
  • Help create a calm, inclusive and nurturing learning environment

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people in an education, care or support setting
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN, ASC, ADHD, SEMH or communication needs
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
  • A genuine passion for helping children reach their full potential

Desirable:

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification
  • Knowledge of positive behaviour support or trauma-informed practice
