Overview

We are working with a welcoming and inclusive co‑educational all‑through academy school in Lewisham, looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join from September 2026 on a maternity cover contract for the full academic year. This opportunity is for an educator passionate about contributing to a supportive school community that prides itself on high standards and student achievement across all key stages.

Responsibilities

  • Teach English across relevant key stages (KS3–KS4 and potentially KS5 depending on experience).
  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Mark students' work and provide clear, constructive feedback.
  • Support students’ academic progress and development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within a well‑established English department.

Qualifications

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Have recent UK classroom experience teaching English.
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for English literature and language.
  • Experience with planning and marking is essential.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage learners of all abilities.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to teaching.
