Start Date: September 2026 (or As Soon As Possible)
Hours: Full time (Temp to Permanent), 9:00am – 3:30pm (Monday to Friday)
Mileage: 35p per mile petrol allowance
Salary: £92.50-£110 a day, depending on previous experience and qualifications.
This is a full-time, permanent role supporting learners on a 1:1 basis as an Outreach Learning Mentor, focusing on delivering targeted English and Maths interventions outside the mainstream classroom setting. You will work directly with pupils who require additional academic and emotional support, helping to re-engage them in their education and build confidence in their learning journey. This role is based at the classroom centre with some days working on outreach.
Responsibilities- Deliver 1:1 sessions in Maths and English to students who are currently disengaged from mainstream education.
- Establish positive, trusting relationships to support pupils' academic progress and personal development.
- Work independently, travelling between locations where needed (all within the Torquay area – mileage paid at 35p per mile).
- Maintain accurate records and liaise with teaching staff, SENDCo and other professionals to ensure cohesive support planning.
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally in a SEND or alternative provision setting.
- Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, empathetic approach.
- A good understanding of common learning difficulties (e.g. ADHD, ASD, SEMH).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence in delivering Maths and English at KS2 and/or KS3 level.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
