Axcis Education is working with a SEND school in Ealing to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). The school operates across two sites: a primary provision in Greenford and a secondary provision in Northolt, supporting pupils aged 4–19 years. Staff may be based at one site or work across both settings depending on the needs of the school.

For the right candidate, paid trial days are available before the summer break, offering the opportunity to secure a position ahead of the September 2026 start.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with PMLD and complex needs.
  • Support children in accessing sensory play, therapeutic activities, and personalised learning programmes.
  • Encourage engagement, communication, independence, and social interaction.
  • Deliver high-quality personal care, including toileting, hygiene, dressing, and physical support.
  • Support feeding routines, including PEG feeding where required.
  • Safely use hoists and carry out manual handling procedures in line with individual care plans and training.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, medical professionals, and families to support pupil development.
  • Use communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, and other alternative communication methods.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, wellbeing, and care requirements.
  • Promote a safe, positive, and nurturing learning environment at all times.
Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with PMLD, complex SEND needs, or physical disabilities.
  • Practical experience with hoisting and manual handling (essential).
  • Experience delivering personal care and supporting pupils with daily living needs.
  • A background in care, healthcare, support work, or SEND education would be highly beneficial.
  • PEG feeding experience or a willingness to undertake training (desirable).
  • Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or alternative communication methods.
  • A patient, resilient, and compassionate approach.
  • An Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • The ability to commit to a full-time position from September 2026.
