HLTA / Cover Support Teaching Assistant – Step Up! in Chorlton, South Manchester (M21). Salary: £105.00 – £115.00 per day. Job Type: Full-time, Permanent potential. Start Date: Immediate.

An energetic, community-centred primary school in Chorlton is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team immediately. This role offers variety across all year groups (EYFS to KS2) and the opportunity to lead pre-planned lessons independently.

Responsibilities
  • Leading pre-planned lessons across EYFS, KS1, and KS2 to cover teacher PPA time and short-term absences.
  • Maintaining a calm, focused, and purposeful classroom environment while teaching independently.
  • Providing detailed handovers and feedback to class teachers regarding pupil progress and behaviour.
  • Leading high-level intervention groups in upper Key Stage 2 when not covering whole classes.
  • Assisting with whole-school duties, including morning gates, assemblies, and lunch supervision.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • A verified HLTA status (Level 4), a Foundation Degree in Education, or a Cover Supervisor background.
  • Proven experience confidently managing whole primary classrooms independently.
  • Adaptability to work across different year groups (e.g., Reception in the morning and Year 6 in the afternoon).
  • Strong behaviour management strategies and an authoritative yet encouraging presence.
