We are proud to be working with a nurturing and forward-thinking all-through SEND school in Hartley, supporting pupils aged 3–19 with a wide range of additional needs. The school is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team and make a meaningful impact on students’ daily lives. Students at the school present with a variety of needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, PMLD, medical needs, and behaviours that challenge. You will play a vital role in supporting both their academic progress and social-emotional development, working closely with experienced teachers and support staff. The school also offers an inspiring Forest School provision, giving pupils the chance to engage with the natural environment, take supported risks, and develop confidence, resilience, and independence through child-led outdoor learning.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual student needs
- Support pupils with behaviour regulation, communication, and emotional wellbeing
- Assist with and actively participate in Forest School sessions
- Work collaboratively with teachers to implement personalised learning and care plans
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND (ASD, ADHD, PMLD desirable)
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
- A genuine passion for helping young people thrive
