Teaching Assistant – SEMH & Complex Needs (Year 7 1:1 Support)

Sutton, Greater London

Hours

Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (Term Time Only)

Start Date

Tuesday 1st September (Temp to Perm)

Salary

From £92.63 per day

We are currently recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a Year 7 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and complex learning needs in a supportive and inclusive all-through special school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 7 pupil with SEMH and complex needs.
  • Implement strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and behaviour support plans.
  • Support the pupil's academic, social, emotional, and personal development.
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviours using positive behaviour management techniques.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure consistent support.
  • Build a trusting and positive relationship with the student.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to challenging situations when they arise.
  • Ideal Candidate
  • Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND, ASD, ADHD, complex needs, or behavioural challenges.
  • Is calm, patient, empathetic, and resilient.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is proactive and able to respond effectively to changing situations.
  • Is passionate about helping young people achieve their full potential.
  • Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience (desirable but not essential).
  • Has an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
