Axcis Education is recruiting a compassionate and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing Early Years SEN provision in Brent, conveniently located within walking distance of Neasden Station. This specialist setting supports children aged 3–5 years within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). While pupils are chronological Early Years age, they are working developmentally at an earlier stage (approximately 0–3 years) due to Autism and complex learning needs. The school is widely recognised for its warm, community-focused ethos and purpose-built environment tailored to young learners with additional needs.

About the Role

  • Support EYFS pupils with Autism and complex needs, delivering 1:1 and small-group support in line with EHCPs
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering play-based, sensory-rich, and differentiated learning activities
  • Use PECS, Makaton, and other communication strategies to support early language development
  • Support pupils with personal care needs in a respectful and dignified manner
  • Promote early communication, independence, emotional regulation, and social interaction
  • Contribute to ongoing assessment and progress tracking, sharing daily feedback with parents and staff

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have Early Years experience, ideally within a nursery, EYFS class, SEN setting, or early intervention provision
  • Hold a Level 3 CACHE qualification in Early Years (or equivalent), or have strong relevant experience
  • Be confident supporting children with Autism, sensory processing needs, and significant communication delay
  • Be comfortable assisting with personal care
  • Be patient, nurturing, reliable, and a strong team player
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply)

Integrated Therapy & Leadership Support

Each class benefits from a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach and is supported by:

  • A Speech and Language Therapist
  • An Occupational Therapist
  • An Inclusion Practitioner

This integrated working model is central to the school’s ethos, ensuring consistency and high-quality provision. Day-to-day leadership is provided by Mala Neves, with regular on-site support from the wider senior leadership team.

Aims of the Early Years Provision

  • Creating a happy, safe, and positive learning environment
  • Building on prior learning through strong partnerships with parents, carers, and professionals
  • Establishing solid foundations in functional communication, independence, and self-care
  • Offering a wide range of enriching and meaningful experiences
  • Supporting holistic development β€” social, physical, emotional, and cognitive
  • Celebrating each child’s achievements alongside their families
  • Regularly reviewing individual needs to ensure highly personalised learning
  • Promoting equality, inclusion, and anti-discriminatory practice
