We are recruiting for a rewarding Teaching Assistant position within a specialist school in the L9 Fazakerley area. This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a dedicated team supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, helping them to develop academically, socially and emotionally in a structured and nurturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide tailored support throughout the school day.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, encourage independence, assist with communication and learning activities, and help implement individual support plans.
  • Adapt support approaches to meet the individual needs of each pupil, demonstrating patience, proactivity and confidence in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Recent experience working with children or young people in a special school, mainstream school, residential children’s setting, care environment, or similar support role.
  • Experience supporting pupils with additional needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, complex learning needs, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), physical disabilities or challenging behaviours.
  • Applicants without relevant experience will not be considered.
  • Must be suitably qualified for the position and prepared to attend a face‑to‑face interview.

Essential Requirements

  • Required to provide an up to date DBS check or allow Axcis to process one on your behalf, along with other mandatory compliance checks in line with the DfE guidelines.
  • This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 if you are applying for work with children or vulnerable adults.
  • This is a temporary position unless stated otherwise.
