About the Role
Axcis Education is currently seeking a passionate and reliable Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a well-regarded primary school in Romford, Havering. Known for its inclusive ethos and strong community ties, the school was recently rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED. This is a full-time position supporting pupils across Key Stages 1 and 2, particularly those who require additional help due to SEND, social challenges, or behavioural difficulties. The role focuses on a blend of 1:1 and small group support, with a strong emphasis on phonics-based literacy intervention.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups, especially those with SEND and behavioural needs
- Deliver and reinforce phonics-based literacy activities to improve reading and writing
- Assist in the social and emotional development of pupils, including self-regulation and confidence-building
- Work collaboratively with teachers and the SENCO to adapt lesson content
- Contribute to intervention sessions and track pupil progress
- Assist with daily classroom duties and help maintain a positive learning environment
Ideal Candidate
- Holds a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- Has experience supporting children with SEND, especially Autism
- Confident in phonics-based strategies for literacy development
- Approachable, caring, and patient with a proactive attitude
- Passionate about supporting primary-aged children and helping them achieve their potential
