Learning Support Assistant - Mainstream College (Construction, Media & Business Subjects) Location: Bromley, BR2 Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm Start Date: September 2026

A friendly and supportive mainstream college in Bromley is seeking dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join their team, supporting students across a range of practical and career-focused subjects including Mechanics, Brick, Media, Business, and ICT.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships with learners and helping students with additional needs develop confidence, independence, and valuable skills for their future.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside lecturers and college staff to provide tailored 1:1 and small group support, ensuring students can fully participate in their chosen vocational courses.

You will help learners access practical activities, classroom learning, and work-related skills while promoting independence and positive engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with additional needs.
  • Support learners with ASD, SEMH, epilepsy, and other SEND requirements.
  • Assist students during practical workshops and vocational lessons.
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and participation.
  • Support students with behaviour strategies and emotional regulation where needed.
  • Assist with medical or personal care requirements where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with lecturers and the wider college team.
  • Support individual learning plans and student development goals.
  • The Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience supporting young people with SEND is desirable but not essential.
  • A positive, patient, and adaptable approach.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships.
  • Confident supporting learners in practical and classroom environments.
  • A team player who is willing to support wherever needed.
  • Enthusiastic about helping young people achieve their goals.
  • Keen to develop within a SEND education setting.
  • You must be suitably qualified for the position advertised and be prepared to attend a face to face interview with Axcis to demonstrate your suitability for this role.
