A welcoming mainstream college in Bromley is looking for enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to join their team, supporting students across vocational courses including Childcare, Catering, Hairdressing, and Hair & Beauty.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a college setting, helping students with additional needs, including ASD, SEMH, epilepsy, and other learning needs, to fully access their chosen courses and develop confidence, independence, and employability skills.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside lecturers and college staff to provide 1:1 and small group support, helping students overcome barriers to learning and successfully participate in practical lessons.

You will support students both academically and practically, encouraging independence, confidence, and positive engagement throughout their college journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with additional needs.
  • Support learners with ASD, SEMH, epilepsy, and other SEND requirements.
  • Assist students during practical vocational sessions.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and social development.
  • Support positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation.
  • Assist with medical or personal care needs where required.
  • Work closely with lecturers and support teams to meet individual student needs.
  • Help students develop skills for employment and future independence.
  • The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience supporting young people with SEND is desirable but not essential.
  • A patient, caring, and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Confident supporting students in practical learning environments.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential.
  • Willingness to learn and develop within a SEND college setting.

You must be suitably qualified for the position advertised and be prepared to attend a face to face interview with Axcis to demonstrate your suitability for this role.
