We are looking for a dedicated Learning Mentor to support students in Key Stage Four in a mainstream secondary college. Working alongside teachers and fellow support staff colleagues, you will play a key role in helping students access learning, develop confidence, display positive learning behaviours and engage positively with school life.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
- Promoting and encouraging positive learning behaviours
- Assisting with classroom activities and learning tasks
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional development
- Helping to create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment
About the School
- This secondary college - near Newton Abbot - supports students aged 11–16 who have chosen courses linked to science mechanics and engineering.
- Some pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) to provide additional funding for support to meet their needs.
- The school prides itself on providing a safe, inclusive environment where students are supported to thrive both academically and personally.

Previous experience is not essential. This role would suit graduates, youth workers, sports coaches, teaching assistants, or anyone with a genuine interest in working with young people.
Key Information
- Pay: £14.25 - £16.50 p/h
- Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (30 minute lunch break)
- Start Date: Monday 7th September 2026
