Overview
Teaching Assistant – Primary School SEND Support | Chorley | Full-Time | September Start | Temporary (Potential Temp-to-Perm).
This role involves providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with Autism and behaviour needs within a mainstream primary school.
You will work closely with the class teacher and the SEND team to help children access the curriculum, develop positive learning behaviours, and reach their full potential.
Responsibilities
- Support two pupils with ASC and behaviour needs within a mainstream primary classroom.
- Collaborate with the class teacher to adapt learning and encourage classroom participation.
- Deliver targeted interventions to close learning gaps and help pupils achieve age-related expectations.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that promote emotional wellbeing and confidence.
- Use positive behaviour support strategies to encourage engagement and independence.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil development.
Requirements / Qualifications
- At least 6 months' experience working with SEND.
- Overseas applicants must have a minimum of 3 months' UK-based SEND experience.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND and complex needs.
- Availability to work Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm.
- The ability to reliably commute to Chorley and the surrounding areas.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one (Axcis Education can support with the application).
