Axcis Education is working in partnership with a specialist SEND college in Newton-le-Willows, seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

Supporting students aged 16–25, you'll play a key role in helping young adults achieve their individual goals through a curriculum that combines academic learning with practical life skills, employability and community engagement.

The Role

• Work closely with tutors and specialist staff to provide personalised support that enables students to flourish both inside and outside the classroom.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with Autism (ASC) and a range of additional learning needs.
• Support students during classroom-based, vocational and community learning activities.
• Encourage independence, communication, confidence and positive social interaction.
• Assist with life skills, employability and preparation for adulthood programmes.
• Adapt support to meet individual EHCP outcomes and personalised learning goals.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and self-esteem.
• Work collaboratively with tutors, therapists and other specialist professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for every student.

What We're Looking For

• Experience supporting young people or adults with Autism and/or additional learning needs in education, care or similar settings (desirable but not essential).
• Patient, empathetic and passionate about helping others achieve their potential.
• Interest in supporting young adults with independent living, employability and life skills.
• Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students.
• Confidence in supporting individuals on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
• Excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Adaptable, reliable and committed to making a meaningful difference every day.
