Job Title: Teaching Assistant. Location: Kingston, London. Type: Full-time (8:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday–Friday). Salary: Paid to scale.

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support classroom delivery in a vibrant primary/secondary setting in Kingston.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers to create an inclusive, engaging learning environment and provide targeted assistance to pupils of diverse abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons, ensuring clear instructions and smooth transitions.
  • Provide one-to-one or small‑group support for students who need additional reinforcement, including those with SEND or EAL needs.
  • Supervise pupils during classroom activities, recess, lunch, and outings, maintaining high standards of behaviour and safety.
  • Assist in the preparation of teaching resources, marking of work, and recording of assessment data.
  • Contribute to the pastoral care of students, promoting wellbeing and encouraging positive attitudes to learning.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.

Essential Criteria

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics (minimum grade 4/C).
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting (volunteering, tutoring, or previous TA role).
  • Strong communication and organisational skills; ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Commitment to safeguarding policies and a current DBS check (or willingness to obtain).

Desirable

  • Level 2/3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
  • Experience with SEND or EAL learners.
