We are seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs and Mental Health (SEMH) Teacher to join our inclusive school community in Hampton. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, evidence-based instruction and support for students with complex emotional, behavioural, and learning needs, fostering their academic progress and personal wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess differentiated lessons that meet individual SEMH profiles and the national curriculum.
- Develop and implement personalised learning and behaviour plans in collaboration with senior staff, counsellors, and external agencies.
- Provide one-to-one and small-group interventions, monitoring progress and adjusting strategies as required.
- Lead or contribute to pastoral care initiatives, promoting a safe, supportive environment.
- Maintain accurate records, produce timely reports, and communicate effectively with parents/carers.
- Participate in staff development, safeguarding duties, and whole-school improvement programmes.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Post‑graduate qualification or training in Special Educational Needs (e.g., PGCE, MA, CPD in SEMH).
- Minimum 2 years experience teaching or supporting SEMH pupils in a mainstream or specialist setting.
- Strong understanding of SEND legislation, behaviour management frameworks, and therapeutic approaches.
Desirable
- Experience with trauma‑informed practice and multi‑agency collaboration.
- Additional certifications (e.g., CBT, CBT‑based strategies, or safeguarding).
