About the Role
Teaching Assistant / HLTA – SEN (Autism & Complex Needs) – Greenford, Ealing.
Start Date: ASAP. Contract: Full-time, Long-Term. Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 3:45pm. Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome.
- Use communication strategies such as PECS and Makaton to support learning and engagement.
- Support pupils with personal care where required.
- Assist in delivering and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Help create a structured, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
- Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress.
- Contribute to planning, review, and progress meetings.
- Support classroom teachers and lead activities where appropriate (HLTA experience beneficial).
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children with Autism and/or complex needs.
- HLTA experience or qualifications would be highly advantageous.
- EYFS or SEND school experience desirable.
- Confidence using PECS and familiarity with Makaton.
- Willingness to provide personal care support.
- Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
- Ability to commit to full-time hours.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
