Axcis Education, on behalf of a highly regarded primary and secondary SEND provision in Northolt, is seeking an adaptable and dedicated Teaching Assistant for a full‑time position starting ASAP. The school operates across two sites, offering the opportunity to work with either SEND primary pupils or SEND secondary‑aged students. Pupils across both settings present with a range of complex needs, including PMLD, ASD and additional SEND requirements. Some personal care may be required. For placements at the secondary site, candidates must hold an Enhanced Child and Adult DBS registered on the Update Service.
Responsibilities
- Support teaching in a SEND primary or secondary setting, working closely with specialist teachers.
- Assist pupils with complex and varying needs, including physical, medical and communication challenges.
- Provide personal care when required and use PECS to support non‑verbal communication where appropriate.
- Collaborate with a holistic, child‑centred multidisciplinary team to promote independence, emotional wellbeing and preparation for adult life.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a UK primary, secondary or nursery setting strongly preferred.
- Strong communication skills essential, with experience using PECS highly desirable.
- Ability to hold an Enhanced Child and Adult DBS for secondary placements.
- Passion for supporting pupils with moderate to severe learning difficulties and a holistic approach.
