We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teacher to join a vibrant and inclusive school located in the heart of Frome, Somerset. This is a full-time position focused on providing high-quality education to students with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. The ideal candidate will be committed to creating a supportive and adaptive learning environment that caters to the individual challenges of our students, empowering them to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that meet the needs of all students with SEND.
- Create a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages students to learn and grow.
- Utilize a range of teaching strategies and resources, including technology, to enhance students' learning experiences.
- Assess, monitor, and report on the progress of students, setting clear targets and providing regular feedback to students, parents, and carers.
- Work collaboratively with other teaching staff, SEND coordinators, and support staff to implement individual education plans and ensure consistency in support.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in SEND education.
- Demonstrate commitment to inclusive education and the principles of equality and diversity.
- Provide pastoral care and support to students, addressing any issues that may arise and working closely with families and external agencies as necessary.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including participation in extracurricular activities and school events.
Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- Experience working with students with special educational needs and disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and an understanding of the various types of learning difficulties and disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Effective classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
- Flexibility, resilience, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
