Overview

SEND Teacher – Mainstream Primary School (Enhanced SEND Unit). A mainstream primary school in Hounslow is looking for a full-time SEND Teacher to lead its enhanced SEND unit, supporting children with communication and interaction difficulties, most of whom have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This role covers both EYFS and KS1 and is ideal for an experienced SEND teacher with a strong background in ASC and early primary education.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small class of 12 pupils (8 KS1 and 4 EYFS).
  • Sole class teacher within the unit.
  • Supported by 4 Teaching Assistants and 1:1 support for one pupil.
  • Plan and deliver structured, personalised learning.
  • Maintain a calm, consistent, and nurturing environment.
  • Support pupils’ communication, interaction, and emotional regulation.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience working with children with ASC.
  • Strong EYFS and KS1 teaching experience.
  • Confident in leading a SEND unit within a mainstream setting.
  • Skilled in structured approaches, personalised learning, and routines.
  • Committed to inclusive education and high expectations.
