The Opportunity As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside lecturers and college staff to provide tailored support to students with additional needs, helping them access their chosen courses and fully participate in college life.

You may provide 1:1 or small group support within classrooms, workshops, and practical learning environments, supporting students to overcome barriers and achieve their personal and academic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students with SEND, including ASD, SEMH, epilepsy, and other additional needs.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support across a range of vocational subjects.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive engagement with learning.
  • Assist students during practical lessons and classroom activities.
  • Support behaviour strategies and emotional regulation when required.
  • Help students develop communication, social, and employability skills.
  • Work closely with lecturers and support teams to meet individual learner needs.
  • Assist with medical or personal care requirements where appropriate.

  • Experienced supporting young people with additional needs (desirable but not essential).
  • Patient, positive, and adaptable with a caring approach.
  • Confident building strong relationships with students.
  • Comfortable supporting learners in both classroom and practical settings.
