We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join our specialist college in Edgware, supporting a teenage student on a 1:1 basis. This is a highly rewarding role for someone passionate about making a meaningful difference to a young person with additional needs. The successful candidate will provide consistent, structured support to help the student access learning, develop independence, and engage positively with college life.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to a male teenage learner with complex SEND needs
- Assist with personal care as required, maintaining dignity and safeguarding at all times
- Support emotional regulation and respond calmly to challenging behaviour
- Implement behaviour support strategies in line with the student’s individual support plan
- Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and pastoral teams
- Promote independence, social skills, and positive engagement
- Ensure a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND (education, care, or youth work)
- Confidence managing challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
