About the Role

SEN Teaching Assistant – Early Years at a supportive Early Years SEN School in Brent. The position supports children aged 3‑5 years within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and provides personalised support for pupils with Autism and complex learning needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support EYFS pupils with Autism and complex needs, delivering one‑to‑one and small‑group support in line with EHCPs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering play‑based, sensory‑rich, and differentiated learning activities.
  • Use PECS, Makaton, and other communication strategies to support early language development.
  • Support pupils with personal care needs in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Promote early communication, independence, emotional regulation, and social interaction.
  • Contribute to ongoing assessment and progress tracking, sharing daily feedback with parents and staff.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Early Years experience, ideally within a nursery, EYFS class, SEN setting, or early intervention provision.
  • Hold a Level 3 CACHE qualification in Early Years (or equivalent), or have strong relevant experience.
  • Be confident supporting children with Autism, sensory processing needs, and significant communication delay.
  • Be comfortable assisting with personal care.
  • Be patient, nurturing, reliable, and a strong team player.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).
