Location: Exeter, Devon. Contract: Full‑time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM. Start date: September.

About the role

We are looking for a qualified teacher to support learners aged 5–16 who are no longer in mainstream education. Students have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and often present with autism and other social, emotional and mental health needs. The school delivers the national curriculum with flexibility to support social, emotional and therapeutic growth.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver core subjects to small groups (up to 6 students) in primary or secondary settings.
  • Plan and adapt lessons for students working at lower academic levels (typically Key Stage 3).
  • Use regular PPA time to enrich learning.
  • Create a calm, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Collaborate with a supportive team and learning mentors to tailor the curriculum to individual learner needs.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent).
  • Experience working with SEND or SEMH learners.
  • Understanding of trauma‑informed practice, emotional regulation and supporting neurodivergent learners.
  • Committed to providing high‑quality education while nurturing individual progress and personal development.
