Location: Exeter, Devon. Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday 8:45 am – 4:15 pm. Start Date: September.

Role Overview

We’re recruiting a Teaching Assistant to work in an alternative provision in Exeter, starting this September. Use your coaching expertise to support children with a range of additional needs in the classroom and help them grow through physical activity.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting pupils in the classroom.
  • Adapting coaching approaches to meet diverse needs and abilities.
  • Encouraging teamwork, communication and self‑confidence.
  • Assisting in classroom activities when not leading physical sessions.
  • Helping with behaviour support and emotional regulation.
  • Playing a key role in school trips or outreach programmes.
  • Collaborating with teachers and therapists to track progress and plan next steps.
  • Participating in team meetings and relevant training.

About You

  • Experienced working with children or young people (experience with SEND is ideal).
  • Confident in delivering or assisting with sports and curriculum lessons.
  • Capable of adapting to a variety of learning and behavioural needs.
  • Enthusiastic, resilient and calm under pressure.
  • A strong communicator and natural team player.
  • Aware of safeguarding procedures and committed to the wellbeing of all pupils.
