We are seeking a committed, confident and energetic SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and well‑resourced primary setting. The role involves working within a small class of pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and complex needs, supporting children with additional needs in a practical, hands‑on environment.
Responsibilities
- Support pupils in Year 4 or Year 5, many of whom are non‑verbal and have sensory needs.
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and deliver tailored support.
- Support behaviour positively and help create a calm, structured and engaging environment.
- Work closely with the class teacher and wider support team to deliver inclusive practice.
- Assist with sensory regulation throughout the school day.
- Prepare and maintain resources, visual timetables and alternative communication tools such as PECS and Makaton.
Qualifications
- Strong background supporting children with SEND, especially those with MLD, complex needs and sensory profiles.
- Experience working with non‑verbal children and using alternative communication strategies.
- Proactive, energetic and able to remain calm in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff and families.
- Experience working within a small class setting is desirable.
