The Role
Deputy SENDCo works closely with the Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion) and SENDCo to ensure students with additional needs receive exceptional support and achieve their full potential. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading SEND provision across the school
- Overseeing the Enhanced Learning Provision (ELP)
- Coordinating interventions
- Working collaboratively with staff, parents and external agencies
- Supporting the leadership and delivery of SEND provision across the school
- Monitoring and developing provision within the Enhanced Learning Provision (ELP)
- Coordinating targeted interventions and support programmes
- Conducting and overseeing SEND assessments and screening processes
- Supporting students with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Tracking progress and evaluating the impact of interventions
- Developing and reviewing individual support and engagement plans
- Working closely with teachers, teaching assistants, parents and carers
- Liaising with external agencies and representing the school at multi‑agency meetings
- Supporting successful transitions for SEND learners
- Promoting inclusive practice and helping colleagues meet the needs of all learners
