Axcis is working with a Secondary school in Dagenham, who are seeking a reliable and confident Cover Supervisor to join their dynamic secondary school team. The successful candidate will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring that students remain on task with the work set and maintain a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise students during the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring that pre-set work is completed.
  • Manage classroom behaviour and uphold the school's behaviour policy.
  • Provide support to students by answering questions related to the work set (not teaching).
  • Report back to the relevant teacher/department on student progress and behaviour.
  • Ensure the classroom is left in a tidy condition at the end of the lesson.
  • Provide supervision during exams, lunch, or break times as required.
  • Support the wider school environment, including cover for admin or pastoral duties if needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Experience working with young people, preferably in a school setting.
  • Good classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, assertive, and professional under pressure.
  • Degree or education-related qualification.
  • Experience as a teaching assistant, youth worker, or tutor.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

This is a temporary position, unless stated otherwise. You must be suitably qualified for the position advertised and be prepared to attend a face to face interview with Axcis to demonstrate your suitability for this role. Salary / Pay Rate will be dependent on your skills and experience.
