An inclusive secondary school in EN4 is looking to appoint an experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a student within its Autism Provision who presents with ASD alongside SEMH needs and behaviours that challenge.
Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
- Implement behaviour support plans and EHCP targets.
- Use positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies.
- Support emotional regulation and social communication.
- Encourage participation in lessons and wider school life.
- Liaise closely with teaching staff, the SENCO and external professionals.
- Record progress and contribute to review meetings.
The Ideal Candidate
- Significant experience supporting young people with ASD and SEMH.
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
- Calm, resilient and consistent approach.
- Ability to build trusting relationships while maintaining clear boundaries.
- Team Teach or equivalent behaviour management training is desirable.
