We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant to join an all-through SEND Visual Impairment (VI) specialist school in Wandsworth. This is a full-time role supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting pupils’ learning, communication, and personal development throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils using British Sign Language (BSL) across the curriculum
- Providing personal care, including toileting and hygiene support
- Assisting with feeding and mealtime support
- Supporting pupils during swimming sessions
- Working closely with teachers and therapists to support learning activities
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
Requirements
- Minimum Level 2 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL)
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND (desirable)
- A caring, patient, and proactive approach
- Willingness to support with personal care and physical activities
