The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 Β£ per year.
The successful candidate will support pupils with hearing impairment across the curriculum, delivering planned interventions and learning activities for individuals and small groups, and working closely with teachers, the SEND team, families and external professionals to support pupil progress. The role includes monitoring and recording pupil achievement, contributing to assessment and review processes, promoting independence, confidence and positive social interaction, leading learning activities and covering classes when required, and supporting the development of communication skills and language acquisition.
Responsibilities
- Support pupils with hearing impairment across the curriculum.
- Use British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate communication and access to learning.
- Deliver planned interventions and learning activities for individuals and small groups.
- Work closely with teachers, the SEND team, families and external professionals to support pupil progress.
- Monitor and record pupil achievement and contribute to assessment and review processes.
- Promote independence, confidence and positive social interaction.
- Lead learning activities and cover classes when required in line with HLTA responsibilities.
- Support the development of communication skills and language acquisition.
Qualifications & Experience
- Holds HLTA status or has equivalent relevant experience.
- Holds a recognised BSL qualification (minimum Level 2 desirable; Level 3 or above preferred).
- Has experience working with children with SEND, ideally within a primary or specialist setting.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates a commitment to inclusion and high expectations for all pupils.
- Can build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
- Is flexible, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Experience working with deaf children or young people.
- Knowledge of hearing impairment and its impact on learning and communication.
- Experience supporting pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
