Axcis is working with a forward-thinking alternative provision in Bolton to recruit enthusiastic Construction & Trades Practitioners for part-time and full-time roles. If you have hands-on experience in areas such as bike repair, tiling, plastering, or general construction and want to make a real impact on young people’s lives, this is a fantastic opportunity.

Start date: ASAP

Day rate: £115+ (dependent on experience & qualifications)

Location: Bolton

Contract: Full / Part time

Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm

Your Role:

  • Support and engage young people (ages 11–16) through practical, skills-based learning.
  • Deliver hands-on sessions in areas such as bike repair, tiling, plastering, and general construction.
  • Support students with SEMH needs through practical, engaging tasks.
  • Create a safe and structured workshop-style environment.
  • Encourage teamwork, problem-solving and personal development.
  • Introduce students to transferable skills for future employment.

Ideal Backgrounds:

  • Bike mechanic or someone experienced in cycle repair.
  • Tiler, plasterer, or general builder.
  • Construction or site-based professional.
  • Tradesperson with mentoring or teaching experience.
  • Any hands-on professional passionate about working with young people (other trades also welcome).

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with young people aged 11–16 (or willingness to transition into this setting).
  • Understanding of SEMH needs and how to support students in practical environments.
  • Proactive, adaptable and hands-on approach.
  • Strong communication skills and patience.
  • Commitment to a full-time, long-term role.
