Axcis Education is partnering with a primary school in Birmingham to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with communication needs. This role is for a SEND or Learning Support Assistant with experience in speech, language, and communication needs, looking to make a meaningful difference in a nurturing environment.
Key Details
- Location: Birmingham (West Midlands)
- Start Date: September 2026
- Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:30am – 4:00pm)
- Salary: £92.63 per day
Role
- Support children aged 4–11 in a primary school setting
- Work with pupils with speech, language, and communication difficulties (SLCN)
- Help develop communication, social, and language skills
- Use tools such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and Makaton
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Provide a calm, supportive classroom presence
- Work alongside teachers and SENCOs to deliver tailored interventions
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children with speech and language needs or SEND
- Fluent in Arabic
- Knowledge of communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or similar
- A patient, caring, and empathetic approach
- Strong ability to build meaningful relationships with students
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Availability for full-time, long-term work (Monday‑Friday)
