Axcis is supporting an ASD‑specific all‑age special school in Handsworth. The school is expanding from primary to all‑age (Reception to Year 9) and needs new permanent staff. All roles begin on a temporary basis, with a view to permanent contract after a trial period.

As a teaching assistant you will support very complex individuals with a lead diagnosis of autism (ASD) and a range of additional needs such as sensory processing issues, challenging behaviour and communication delays (including non‑verbal).

  • Provide support to pupils with ASD and associated needs.
  • Work one‑to‑one and in small groups.
  • Attend full‑time hours (08:30‑15:30, Monday‑Friday).
  • Start as soon as possible; potential to move to a permanent contract.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting individuals with autism, including sensory, behavioural and communication challenges – essential.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willing to obtain one prior to starting – essential.
  • Minimum of two references covering the past 12 months – essential.
