Axcis Education is recruiting for a qualified teaching assistant. The role is based within the resource hub of a mainstream primary school in the Small Heath area, supporting children with varying SEND needs, including some children with low-level personal care needs. You will work on a 1:1 or small group basis (2–3) and be responsible for leading the learning and engagement of the children in your group. The role requires you to work independently and as part of a team with other staff. The school recently opened its SEN Hub and plans to grow it over the remainder of the academic year; these are long-term roles for at least the duration of the whole academic year.
Responsibilities
- Support pupils with varying special educational needs
- Work on a one-to-one and/or small group basis
- Lead the learning and engagement of the children in your group
- Collaborate with other staff to support groups and ensure continuity of learning
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Requirements
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in a related subject/sector – Essential
- Experience of working with pupils with SEND – Essential
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain a new DBS before starting – Essential
- Minimum of 2 good references – Essential
Job Details
- Full-time: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
- Start Date: ASAP
- Duration: Remainder of the 2025/26 academic year, with likely continuation into September 2026
