Axcis is looking for teaching assistants to work in a special school specialising in children with Autism and complex needs. The school caters to children aged 4 to 19 and tailors its provision to each individual's needs. Three 1:1 teaching assistants are required to work with children who have exceptional special needs and may display very challenging behaviour. The role is full‑time, on a small group and 1:1 basis for the remainder of the academic year.

Working independently and as part of a team, you will take direction from the class teacher, implement planning accurately and effectively, and rotate with the class team in small groups (2‑3 children) to support the learning journey of each child.

Responsibilities
  • Provide whole class support while working on a 1:1 or small group basis.
  • Lead sessions with a child with exceptional SEND needs who may display challenging behaviour.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, following the class teacher's planning.
  • Full‑time hours: 8:15 am – 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Start date ASAP.
Requirements
  • Experience in working on a one‑to‑one basis – Essential.
  • Experience with pupils who have complex ASD – Essential.
  • Experience with individuals who display challenging behaviour – Essential.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service required or willingness to obtain one – Essential.
  • Minimum of two good references – Essential.
