Student/Graduate Teaching Assistant role at Axcis, a specialist education recruitment agency focused on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This position offers hands-on experience supporting children and young people with additional needs in primary and secondary schools across Gloucestershire.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students 1:1 or in small groups throughout the school day.
- Help pupils access learning, communication and daily routines.
- Encourage independence, confidence and social development.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and SEN professionals.
Student Profile
- Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
- Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
- Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASD)
- Sensory impairments (visual or hearing)
- Epilepsy or other medical needs
- Behaviours linked to communication or sensory differences

Hours, Pay and Training
- Hours: 08:30am – 03:30pm (full-time and part-time options available)
- Pay: £14.25+ per hour, depending on experience
- Weekly pay every Friday
- Initially temporary, with potential to become permanent
- Free training through the National College
Eligibility and Requirements
- Child Only or Child & Adult DBS (Axcis can apply for £57.07)
- Overseas police check if you’ve lived/worked abroad for 6+ months in the last 5 years
- Valid Right to Work in the UK (passport, birth certificate, share code or visa)
- Co-operation with safeguarding and welfare procedures; up-to-date DBS required
- Exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 for roles involving children or vulnerable adults
